I normally carry my cell phone in my tank bag when riding. Due to the fact, my Garmin GPS met an untimely demise, I decided to start using my Samsung Note 9 for navigation. The Note 9 is a good phone but it is big and I was worried that it might be too much for most mounts. After a bunch of research and all my social media streams are being filled with advertisements for phone case companies, I finally pulled the gun on the Quad Lock. This is what I ordered:
- Moto Mount Kit ($99.90) which includes:
- Case (Galaxy Note 9)
- Handle Bar Mount
- Weather Resistant Poncho
- Motorcycle -Vibration Dampener (+ $19.95 USD)
- Weatherproof Wireless Charger (+ $74.95)
The total came to $194.80 (USD) -if you sign up for their marketing by providing your email they will give you a code for 10% off. So my total with free shipping came to $175.32 which is not cheap. I went back and forth on the wireless charger option but in the end, I decided I liked the idea of not fiddling around with USB cables every time I want to go for a ride.
A couple of weeks later the Quad Lock arrived at the office. I opened the box and went through the parts to make sure everything was there. The quality looked good and I was excited to put it on the bike and test it out. It took me about 25 minutes in total. The only issue I had was that there was no instruction on how to install all three pieces together. I quickly found a video on the University of YouTube which gave me a clear understanding of how each element connected, I was able to put it together quickly.
After a couple of months and a number of long road trips, I can say that the Quad Lock is great. The product works as advertised.
Pros
- No movement on or off road
- Easy to lock in place even with gloves
- Vibration dampening is a necessity
- Wireless charging works as advertised
Cons
- Expensive
- Must use the Quad Lock Case
Summary
The Quad Lock system is easy to use and keeps the phone locked into place. I haven’t had to tighten or adjust the mount since the day I installed it. Wireless charging for me is well worth the money. On a recent road trip, I put it into the mount with the battery level at 58%. I rode for 6 hours with navigation and Spotify running. When I got to the motel my phone was now at 66%. The real question with any motorcycle accessory is would you buy it again. The answer with the Quad Lock is yes.
